Military Spouse Training/Certification Resources

These resources offer spouses of veterans a cost saving way to gain professional training, certification and job placements. Take advantage of them.

Financial Assistance & Scholarships:

Reimbursement of Relicensing Costs:
The 2018 National Defense Authorization Act allows each service branch to reimburse the Service member up to $1,000 for Spouse’s relicensure, certification, and business costs resulting from relocations or Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves that cross U.S. state.  To get reimbursement for relicensing costs under the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act, military spouses need to submit a Standard Form 1034, along with copies of PCS orders, previous and new state licenses/certifications, proof of fee payment, and a copy of their marriage certificate to their local on-base Personnel Administration Office or Center. 

MyCAA:
This program provides up to $4,000 in financial assistance to eligible military spouses for licenses, certifications, or associate degrees in portable career fields.  This program is for spouses of active-duty service members and spouses of National Guard and reserve service members on Title 10 orders in pay grades E-1 through E-9, W-1 through W-3 and O-1 through O-3.

National Military Family Association:
Offers scholarships for military spouses seeking additional funding for obtaining and renewing professional credentials. 

Career Guidance & Support:

ENPP:
Provides career assistance to transitioning service members and their spouses at select military installations worldwide. 

Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) Program:
This program provides expert education and career guidance to military spouses worldwide.

Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP): 
Connects military spouses with employers committed to hiring, promoting, and retaining them in portable careers. 

Udemy:
Military spouses have free access to over 5,000 high-quality courses through the online learning platform Udemy. 

MedCerts:
Offers online certificate programs for military spouses, helping them gain portable skills in in-demand occupations. 

CareerOneStop:
A great resource for career exploration, training, and jobs. 

U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes:
Lists resources for military spouses, including virtual workshops and fellowships. 

SBA (Small Business Administration):
Offers courses and resources for military spouses looking to start a small business. 

TEAMS:
A program designed specifically for the spouses of transitioning service members, focusing on career credentials.
