Key Veteran Organizations

There are several major veteran service organizations (VSOs) that provide a wide range of services to U.S. military veterans, active-duty personnel, and their families. These services typically include benefits assistance, legal support, employment programs, mental health support, education resources, and advocacy. You can also become a member of these organizations and donate your time and service.

American Legion
The American Legion advocates for veterans at all political levels.  They also provide assistance to veterans who want to file for VA disability benefits at no cost and donates to youth programs.

AMVETS
American Veterans (AMVETS) provides assistance with filing VA disability claims, scholarships, employment assistance and more.  They have local chapters throughout the country.

DAV
The Disabled AmericanVeteran organization provide support, care, and services to disabled veterans, at no cost to them.  This includes transportation to medical appointments, employment services and disaster assistance, etc.  They also provide assistance with disability claims for free.

Marine Corps League
The Marine Corps League provides mentorship, career counseling, Veteran Service Officer VA support, and assist with transitions.  They can help you develop and submit your VA benefits claims for free.  They have local chapters around the country.

Military Officers Association of America (MOAA)
The MOAA plays an active role in military personnel matters and especially proposed legislation affecting the career force, the retired community, and veterans of the uniformed services.  They also provide scholarships for veterans and their family members.

National Veteran Owned Business Association (NaVOBA)
Provides veteran owned business certification.  Provides a link to corporate contracting.

USO
If you want to help other veterans the USO is an organization you can donate to.  The USO provides assistance to service members to help them communicate with family members, transition assistance, entertainment for deployed service members and more.

Vehicles for veterans
This organization takes donations of vehicles and turn them into cash contributions to other organizations that helps veterans.  You will get a tax deduction for the value of you donated vehicle. 

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)
The VFW provides veterans and their families with VA disability claims assistance, transition assistance and financial aid to meet emergency financial needs.  They have local chapters around the country.
