Claim Categories
The VA groups all disabilities into 13 categories. These categories reflect the area of the body that is affected. The associated disability codes reflect the number of claims that could be made in that particular category.

1. Musculoskeletal System (5000 – 5399) – Includes joint pain, back conditions, arthritis, amputations.
