Commissary & Exchange Benefits
If you are not disabled, you are still eligible for commissary and exchange privileges if you meet one of these criteria:
– Are retired from military service, or
– Are a former prisoner of war, or
– Are a member of the Reserves, or
– Have received a Purple Heart or the Medal of Honor
You don’t need to apply, but you’ll need to have the right kind of ID at checkout. You will need one of these forms of ID:
– Retired ID Card
– Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC) or
– a letter from VA along with your passport or driver’s license.
UPDATE: Eligible Veterans who do not have a VA-issued Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)—as well as eligible caregivers—can now enroll for installation access at the visitor center using their REAL ID Act-compliant driver’s license or non-driver’s identification card. This means these individuals no longer need to present a VA-issued caregiver patronage letter, VA-issued service-connected disability letter, or VA Health Eligibility Center Form H623A to enroll for installation access.
